Environmental: Forests & Bioremediation (Catalog)

JTS’s technical team is equipped with an extended experience in reforestation programs, using symbiotic microorganism such as mycorrhizae, and collaboration with the genetic improvement departments of different universities. This has led us to an ideal selection of clones that can be used in reforestation and bioremediation programs.

For us, purification of contaminated water, and land restoration to combat the desertification caused by salinity or drought, are important objectives. To achieve these, we have carefully selected a group of plant species such as Paulownia, Poplar, Aundo Donax L. (giant cane or Spanish reed), Typha, and Nicotiana Glauca (Tree Tobacco) to be used in such programs and projects. With years of experiments, we have also identified the best clones for each type of project.

We offer the following plants, all the clones used have been developed and produced exclusively by GET and offer unique characteristics different from the ones available in market:

  • Paulownia: P. elongata
  • Paulownia: Interspecific hybrid (P. elongata x P. fortunei)
  • Populus: Chopo San Lorenzo

The above-mentioned species have been selected because of their resistance to adverse conditions, their wood quality, and their great growth capacity (fast-growing).

Agricultural

We offer a selection of rootstocks and specific varieties produced by in vitro multiplication, a method that guarantees the plant’s genetic stability and sanitary quality.

Rootstocks (Catalog)

In some species which cannot be multiplied by cutting, grafting can be used as an option for multiplication. In grafting, the upper part (scion) of one plant grows on the root system (rootstock) of another plant.

The Rootstock is often the underground part of the plant and its selection is just as important as variety (scion) selection. The rootstock and scion are usually from the same or closely related species. Rootstocks are selected based on important traits such as their drought tolerance, their resistance to nematodes and fungi, and/ or their productivity.

We offer the following rootstocks, all developed and produced exclusively by JTS and offer unique characteristics different from the ones available in market:

  • Almond: GF677
  • Almond: GNV
  • Plum/ Cherry: Marianna 26-24
  • Pistachio: UCB1
  • Citrus: Citrus macrophylla

All our rootstocks are produced by our own clones, in vitro micropropagation in our own laboratories to guarantees their genetic stability and sanitary quality.

Varieties/ Scion (Catalog)

Although grafting is the traditional multiplication method used in nurseries, the direct cutting of the variety is the simplest way used for ages. Multiplication through cutting or self- propagation is only possible in some species such as pomegranate, vine, or olive trees. For some species such as pears or different kind of prunus, so far multiplication via cutting has not been an option.

In vitro micropropagation offers the opportunity of multiplying both kind of varieties mentioned above. In addition, in vitro multiplication rejuvenates the tissues and allows the direct rooting of species such as forest plants or fruit trees, therefore grafting will not be the only multiplication method available.

JTS's R&D department has dedicated significant time and effort to apply microcutting technique as an in vitro micropropagation method. So far, our team has applied this technic to different species of interest to agriculture and forestry.

We offer the following varieties, all developed and produced exclusively by GET and offer unique characteristics different from the ones available in market:

  • Olive: Arbequina
  • Olive: Piqual
  • Pear: Pyrus Communis
  • Carob

The original clonal selection of different species is based on their agronomic traits and productivity. After initial selection, the clones are analyzed for different pathogens such as viruses and/ or bacteria. In next step, the clones are sanitized if necessary and then in vitro cloning and micropropagation is performed.
